TAMIU Pre-Bridge to Success and Bridge to Success
The overall purpose and focus of Bridge to Success is long term; therefore, some of the goals are short term (formative-the end of the fall or spring semesters) and some of the goals are long term (summative-the end of the year or later). The funding for Bridge to Success is only for one year. Because the program has been in effect since 1998, we are now including post-secondary graduation rates based on our annual follow-up survey. You are correct, we cannot graduate current Bridge to Success participants in one year, but the graduating rate from post-secondary education is included because it is long term data that we collect on follow-up. The graduation rate helps us to evaluate the long term effect of the program. Many of the South Texas Targeted Occupations require a 4 year degree, such as nursing and teaching.
The graduation rate from post-secondary education would not be used as a measure to evaluate this year's program, but we would use it to evaluate the overall long term effect of the Bridge to Success program.
