South Texas Workforce Development Board has a new name

LAREDO, TX – The South Texas Workforce Development Board will now be known as the   Workforce Solutions for South Texas. This Board serves three counties which are Jim Hogg, Webb and Zapata counties and its mission is to offer strategic and  operational    planning, oversight and evaluation of federal and state workforce programs in these regions including employment,   training funds, child care and employment related support services. The initiative for the name change was   derived from the Texas Workforce Commission's  attempt to provide a common brand name for the 28 local boards. The Texas Workforce Commission conducted a   survey amongst the local board areas and found that only 11% of the local  employers can name their Boards, while only 38% recognize the name of their Board. Therefore, all 28 local workforce Boards will adopt the    Workforce Solutions” name by the summer of 2008. Mr. Rogelio Trevino, Executive Director said “The new name change will allow the citizens of any city in the State of Texas to have a common place to go for job seeking assistance, career preparedness and development.

In addition to offering job seeking and job preparedness assistance, Workforce Solutions for South Texas offers services in Jim Hogg, Webb and Zapata counties for any business or company seeking any of the following services:
